Women and Movies in 2011

We have to face the fact: Hollywood is pretty damn sexist. Movies are generally a man’s business. It’s true! Who are the highest paid actors? The biggest producers? The screenwriters? That’s right, they’re almost exclusively men. If you’re a woman and you want to be an actress, it takes a lot of courage and determination.
Since movies are segmented by their target audiences, women usually have no choice but to watch a chick flick if they want to see a movie with a female leading role. Sadly, they’re also mostly about men or the desire to date a man.

I find it sad when I see a bunch of women flocking in line to see the next Sex and the City movie. It’s the female equivalent of Fast & Furious! They should not encourage this cliché!
In 2011, both sexes should stop watching these crappy sexist movies and maybe the studios would actually start caring a little bit more about character development.
