Why Bill Murray is Turning Down Ghostbusters 3

  • Bill Murray was never the first choice to play Venkman. The role was written for Belushi, but when he died Colombia offered him the part.
  • Bill Murray accepted, but made a deal with Colombia to greenlight the spiritual movie Razor’s Edge.
  • Murray starred in GB2 only because he was obligated. Murray hated the experience and swore to never do sequels again in his life.
  • Murray did shoot a sequel for Garfield, but that story is pretty weird. In fact, he signed for Garfield thinking that it was written by one of the Coen brothers. It turns out (quite obviously) that it wasn’t. Once again, he had an obligation to do a sequel.
  • With Groundhog Day, Bill Murray and Harold Ramis had a fallout. Ramis wanted to do a comedy and Murray felt that the story needed to be more spiritual.
  • Ghostbusters 3 is written by the screenwriters of Year One, which was very poorly received…and directed by Ivan Reitman (director of Ghostbusters…and possibly Ghostbusters 3).
  • Ivan Reitman has made bad comedies one after another in the recent years.
  • Dan Aykroyd wasn’t up for it a few years ago.

THAT’S WHY.

20 Years Later: Cool As Ice

Here’s a simple rule in life: if someone/something proclaims itself as cool, that’s very uncool. For a brief moment though, during 89-90, Vanilla Ice was believed by some to be a rising star. We still don’t know on what drugs they were at the time, but his hit single ‘Ice Ice Baby‘ (or Under Pressure as some prefer to call it) was even nominated for a Grammy! Sadly, Vanilla‘s fame had to vanish because he was a character who couldn’t exist out of the early 90′s. White boys with flashy clothes and weird haircuts were already out in 1992. Continue Reading

CHUNGKING EXPRESS

all the leaves are brown

and the sky is grey
I've been for a walk
on a winter's day

I'd be safe and warm
if I was in L.A
California Dreamin'
on such a winter's day

stopped into a church
I passed along the way
well, I got down on my knees
and I pretend to pray

you know the preacher likes the cold
he knows I'm gonna stay
California Dreamin'
on such a winter's day

all the leaves are brown
and the sky is grey
I've been for a walk
on a winter's day

if I didn't tell her
I could leave today
California Dreamin'
on such a winter's day

The Ending of Toy Story 3: What Pixar is Telling Us

toy story 3 ending

Unlike some of their competitors, Pixar always understood the value of storytelling. Their movies are not only highly entertaining, but they also send you on an emotional journey.

Toy Story 3 is quite spectacular that way and Lee Unkrich must be pulling the right strings, because most of the people I know cried like babies at the end. I remember leaving the theater in tears, which is exceptional for me. I cried because Toy Story 3 told me a lot of things about myself.

Just like Andy, I had to leave my hometown and my memories behind. Turning the page is a huge step in one person’s life. Sometimes you just have to move on, as difficult as it is.

Just like Andy, I’m a nostalgic person. In fact, most of the guys of my age still play retro games, myself included. It’s as if the Y generation refused to grow up. Some even call it the Peter Pan generation! Toy Story 3 is a nice reminder that we’re no longer kids. We each had our childhoods and nothing can change that, but now it’s time for a new generation to live their own. We have to try looking ahead.

Just like Andy, I shared.

Thank you Pixar for creating such a charming and thoughtful movie!

REMEMBER 1995
That year, James Bond, the world’s most famous secret agent, saved us from a Russian satellite weapon named Goldeneye. Thanks James!
Good old T-800 saved us from judgement day and protected the eventual world leader John Connor.
All hell broke loose in Brantford, New Hampshire the day that the Jumanji board game was discovered. Some rumors say that Alan Parish, the kid who disappeared in 1969, came back for a few hours in the city. Most people who saw the man said that he looked like a hobo who did not shaved for years (others said that it was Robin Williams).

OUT FOR JUSTICE (1991)

directed by John Flynn

Is it a classic? Not so much…

Have you ever wondered how it would sound if Steven Segal was an Italian from Brooklyn? Honestly, it’s probably as terrible as you imagine. He’s not convincing at all, but that’s what makes it even funnier.

Out For Justice reminds us why Segal is so famous in the first place. Yes, before he got old and fat, Steven Segal once was what you would usually call a badass. Action-wise, the fights are highly enjoyable because we see the great aikido master in top shape! But unlike his great rival Van Damme, Segal has no screen presence. Fighting quick and efficiently doesn’t make you an action star, sorry.

It’s still a fun watch if you want to see a dated action flick with an early 90’s vibe, but it’s something that would usually be released as a b movie nowadays.
