Quantcast
Have you ever noticed that most great events in Anakin Skywalker’s life are only suggested (except his duel with Obi-Wan and some stuff in Episode 1), especially when he turns to the dark side?
We never see the Clone Wars.
We never see him kill all the Tusken Raiders.
We never see him kill the young Jedis.
We’re supposed to believe he’s super evil because his eyes turn yellow and he dresses in black? Lucas teased us for years with the evil side of Anakin and it only lasts 10-15 minutes in the saga before he becomes Vader.

Long Way Round
Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman take a trip around the world on their bikes. From England to New York, the long way ‘round.

I’m reading that book this summer and I’ll rewatch the series at the same time. It makes me wanna travel and see the world. It’s exhilarating!
It’s quite similar to Ernesto “Che” Guevara’s Motorcycle Diaries. You’ll hear more about it when i’ll start shooting my vlogs again.

Darth Vader and the 48 Laws of Power (part 2)

The ‘48 Laws of Power’ are taken from a book by Richard Greene.

LAW 6

COURT ATTENTION AT ALL COSTS.

The guy wears a cape and blows up walls when he enters a rebel ship. I think he commands attention.

LAW 7

ALWAYS TAKE THE CREDIT

Vader doesn’t really care because he can do everything and people know it. How many 7 years old kids can fix machines, build robots, become war heroes and win a deadly race with a broken engine?

Darth Vader and the 48 laws of Power (part 1)

Robert Greene’s book ‘The 48 Laws of Power’ is a great read for those who love Sun Tzu’s Art of War. ‘48 Laws…’ is a bestseller and as been considered one of the best books of it’s kind.

Out of pure curiosity, let’s see how the laws apply to good old Darth Vador.

LAW 1

NEVER OUTSHINE THE MASTER.

The Emperor needs Anakin at his side because he’s the most powerful jedi there is. Anakin respects the Emperor, therefore he’s the second most powerful person in the galaxy.

LAW 2

NEVER PUT TOO MUCH TRUST IN FRIENDS.

Do you see Darth Vader going out with friends on weekends? Nope. The man only trusts his boss, that’s it. Darth Vador has no girlfriends ever since Padme, and you know why? Because she BETRAYED HIM (or so he thinks).

Typical Characters: The Old Master

Great examples:

  • Pai Mei in Kill Bill 2
  • Yoda in Empire Strikes Back
  • Mr. Miyagi in Karate Kid
  • Master Splinter in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Usually a loner, the old master prefers spending years meditating alone, rather than living in society. Even if it’s an old mythological archetype, he’s often represented as an old asian man who speaks broken english. In martial arts movies, he often has a long beard because it symbolizes wisdom.

He often appears tough at first, but we later understand his good intentions. The master is there to guide the hero through his physical and spiritual journey; He becomes like a father figure. Sadly, he often dies because the hero needs a motivation for his quest.
