Total Recall (2012)

The new Total Recall trailer is out.

It looks much more faithful to Philip K. Dick and inspired by other adaptations such as Blade Runner, Minority Report and Scanner Darkly. It’s also written by the screenwriters of Zodiac and Equilibrium, which is a good news.

Box Office Talk (May 29th 2011)

Box office of the weekend:

  1. Hangover Part II: 86,48 millions (118 millions in total)
  2. Kung Fu Panda 2: 48 millions (53.8 millions in total)
  3. Pirates of the Caribbean 4: 39,32 millions (152.9 millions in total)
  4. Bridesmaids: 16,37 millions (84.9 millions in total)
  5. Thor: 9,36 millions (159.7 millions in total)

In a way it’s terrible news for original screenplays in Hollywood because Hangover 2 is the proof that offering the same formula twice can work perfectly.

Thor is certainly shaping up to be a deception for Marvel, who were probably hoping on staying in the top 3 for a while. But what do you expect when your hero isn’t even known by teenagers nowadays?

The only good news this week is that somehow, Woody Allen’s latest picture, Midnight in Paris, managed to get in the top 10 with only 58 theaters. Now that’s impressive and maybe it shows that some people are getting tired of watching the same things every summer.

Then again, Woody Allen makes a movie every six months or so…
