Marvel has just confirmed that Captain America 2 will be released for april 2014 and will follow the events of The Avengers. Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) will be working for S.H.I.E.L.D. and probably still fighting Red Skull (who knows if that’s a spoiler for the ending of The Avengers).
Marvel has yet to announce who will fill the director’s chair this time. Joe Johnston left the project…possibly to direct Jurassic Park 4.

Same old, same old…
The only original screenplay in the top 5 is Bridesmaid, but since it was partly inspired by the success of Hangover, does it really count?
Speaking of which, the sequel to Hangover made more money in one weekend than most of his rivals and is establishing itself as one of the most popular comedy series of all time. In a way it’s terrible news for original screenplays in Hollywood because Hangover 2 is the proof that offering the same formula twice can work perfectly.
Thor is certainly shaping up to be a deception for Marvel, who were probably hoping on staying in the top 3 for a while. But what do you expect when your hero isn’t even known by teenagers nowadays?

The only good news this week is that somehow, Woody Allen’s latest picture, Midnight in Paris, managed to get in the top 10 with only 58 theaters. Now that’s impressive and maybe it shows that some people are getting tired of watching the same things every summer.
Then again, Woody Allen makes a movie every six months or so…
