That awesome moment in fall when you change the clock to gain an hour and feel like you’re in Back to the Future!

“ahhh! Shark still looks fake!”
Am I the only one who thinks that it’s the most ironic joke in the whole movie?

I’m your density. I mean… your destiny.
-George McFly
When Marty Mcfly went back in 1955 with his Delorean, he may have had the power to alter history, but did he really?

THE HARD WAY
directed by John Badham (Saturday Night Fever, WarGames)
Is it a classic? : No
In 1991, the buddy cop subgenre was getting pretty old. By that point, there was already too many Lethal Weapon, 48 Hours and Beverly Hills Cop movies. The moviegoers were tired of the good cop/bad cop or young cop/old cop formula.
The twist in The Hard Way was that it was about an actor trying to portray a cop to get a part in an action movie. It’s also funny because some of the screenwriters wrote for Miami Vice or some other cop shows on tv. They used their knowledge of the cliches in the genre to make fun of it.
Hard Way is far from being the best of it’s kind, but it’s still a pretty enjoyable hidden gem. Michael J. Fox is hilarious as always and he balances out James Woods perfectly.

Some fans have been dreaming about the next adventures of Marty and Doc for 20 years now. Some of them want it so badly that they made their own trailers:

WHY DOC BROWN IS THE REAL VILLAIN OF BACK TO THE FUTURE.
1. He’s A Terrorist
2. He’s An Old Man Whose Best Friend Is A Teenage Boy
3. He Unnecessarily Puts His Dog’s Life At Risk
4. He’s a Selfish Coward
5. He’s a Thief
6. He Destroyed The Space Time Continuum
7. He’s a Big, Fat Liar Who Plays God
But what about Marty?
1. He pretends to rape his mother in front of his father in order to make her fall in love with him.
2. He scares the sh*t out of his father, which probably became a traumatic experience for him.
3. He doesn’t even care about the clocktower unless it profits him.
4. He makes serious copyright infrigement back in time.

It’s hard to know how the future will turn out in 25 years. Even if we don’t have flying cars or cool hoverboards, some of the predictions made by Back to the Future turned out to be true. For instance, now they really have a baseball team in Miami!
But perhaps the greatest joke in the whole movie is the advertising for Jaws 19. Ironically, it’s almost criticizing the whole remake movement of our era and poking fun at the expense of Robert Zemeckis, who became obsessed with 3d since then.

“The shark still looks fake”, says Marty unaware of his brilliant meta-film joke.
